David M. Bancroft is an artist based outside Philadelphia living creek side in Collegeville Pa. As a
comic book fan his first convention he attended hooked him to gear his art in this direction. Meeting
his heroes and industry legends pushed him to get back to basics, relearn and rethink as an artist.
The advice he got from many artists pushed Dave’s artwork to a new level and style for his toned
pencil technique. There is just something about lines and tones of pencil work that inspires him to
bring life and emotion to a blank page. Dave is always striving for unique perspectives and interesting
backgrounds. These elements enhance the beauty and emotion within each character and their story
he wants to portray. Although Dave’s main addiction is pencils he is skilled in various mediums from
airbrushing to digital art.
Currently Dave is selling original art, prints and taking commissions on-line. He is also appearing at
several conventions each year. You can usually find him doing sketches and talking with fans about
his art. He published a new sketchbook this year that contains various pieces you see here along with
a few convention sketches. Dave is also working on a few new projects for publication in the near
future. He is always looking for interesting projects for covers and book illustration.
